Curriculum Highlights
Practical Life
These are the first skills children are introduced to in the Montessori
environment. These activities assist them in developing responsibility, a
strong sense of self-worth and self-sufficiency by teaching them to care for
themselves and the environment.
Sensorial
The primary purpose of these activities is to help the child sort out the
many and varied impressions given by the senses such as color, weight,
shape, texture, size, sound, smell, taste and vision.
Language
Cultivating reading and writing skills through language development,
dramatic activities, and reading readiness programs help each child build a
stronger vocabulary, in order to communicate ideas and feelings. The
reading lab is available for students in grades 1 - 3.
Mathematics and Numerical Skills
A number of age-appropriate Montessori materials are used to help the child
move from simple math problems to geometric concepts. Math activities may
begin with lessons that teach sequence recognition and counting. It
continues with the process of operations, such as addition,
multiplication, subtraction and division.
Geography, Science and Cultural Activities
These studies help launch the child’s exploration of the physical
environment. Each child’s knowledge of the world is expanded by learning
about the people of the world, their unique culture and varied customs. |
